NETGEAR Promotes David Soares to Vice President of Europe, Middle East, and Africa Sales
IT Sales and Marketing Veteran Tapped to Expand Presence in International Markets
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — December 1, 2003 — NETGEAR, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that David Soares will assume the position of vice president of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) sales. Mr. Soares’ tenure with NETGEAR spans more than five years, serving the last three years as managing director of Europe. His primary focus in his new role will be to increase the company’s international market share in both home and small-and medium-size business networking while leveraging his expertise with retailers, direct marketers, and value-added resellers.

David Soares joined NETGEAR in January 1998 as the U.K. country manager overseeing the sales strategy for retail, direct marketing and value-added reseller channels. He ascended to the rank of European managing director in April 2000, positioning NETGEAR as one of the top vendors of residential and small businesses networking equipment. Before joining NETGEAR, Mr. Soares was with Hayes Microcomputer Products, a modem and data communications manufacturer, later acquired by Zoom Telephonics. During this period, Mr. Soares initiated and developed direct marketing and retail channel relationships. He also assisted with product marketing and created Hayes’ first Internet starter kits for retails stores.
Mr. Soares will remain at NETGEAR’s U.K. offices in Bracknell, Berkshire.
